What problems can shiatsu help?

Buddha, healing mala and medicine wheel mandala
In the hands of an expert, shiatsu can produce profound changes in a wide variety of problems, ranging from common ailments such as headache, tiredness, menstrual pain, shoulder tension and lower back pain to more serious illnesses, such as blood sugar disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, blood pressure abnormailites, depression and chronic asthma and allergies.
Shiatsu by itself is not enough to change these more serious problems, however. It is imperative that the patient makes changes in lifestyle and eating habits, along with the use of specific medicinal foods and herbs.
Remember, too, that Western-type medications serve a purpose: if you are using these kinds of drugs, I DO NOT recommend that you stop unless and until it becomes obvious that the original imbalance that created the problem has been erased, and your medical practitioner gives you the all clear.
